TXDMV REGISTRATION

WHAT IS THE TXDMV NUMBER
A Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) number is a number issued specifically to commercial vehicles in Texas. Operators who have obtained a TXDOT number must display it in a conspicuous place on the registered vehicle. The similarities between a TxDOT number and a USDOT number are common, but they also differ.
YOU MUST REGISTER AS A CARRIER WHEN:
- Operating a commercial motor vehicle (or a combination of vehicles) with a gross weight, registered weight, or gross weight rating that exceeds 26,000 pounds
- Transport hazardous materials in an amount that requires placards.
- Operating a farm vehicle with a gross weight, registered weight, or gross weight rating of 48,000 pounds or more
- Operate a vehicle designed to transport more than 15 passengers, including the driver.
- Operate a commercial school bus
- Transport household goods in exchange for compensation, regardless of the weight of the vehicle.
